Soncin Construction has performed numerous contracts for the City of Toronto to repair the elevated portion of the F.G. Gardiner Expressway. As a part of the ongoing maintenance program of the elevated structure, Soncin has removed and replaced deteriorated concrete on the concrete columns, caps and soffit of the structure. Soncin was the first contractor to propose the use of self consolidating concrete for the repair material. The use of self consolidating concrete eliminated the need to vibrate the concrete during placement and required little of no finishing after stripping the forms.
